City of Santa Clara Pensioner and Consultant Ronald E. Garratt

Ronald E. Garratt was the assistant city manager of Santa Clara before abruptly retiring in December of 2010 (along with Santa Clara police chief Steven Lodge) in order to get in before less favorable pension payouts took effect. As reported by the San Jose Mercury News, in 2008 Ron Garratt received a salary of $198,132 from the city. In addition to the large pension that comes from a 200K a year government job, since his retirement Ron Garratt has been getting consultant wages from the city working in the backroom with the San Francisco 49ers on the details of their stadium subsidy and tax shelter from the city of Santa Clara.
